This isn't just a used watch; it is the "Ur-Text" of Y2K futuristic Seiko design.

Released in 1997, this Reference 5M42-0E39 was the very first result of the legendary collaboration between Seiko and industrial designer Jorg Hysek. He was tasked with creating a physical form that matched the "futuristic" nature of the Kinetic movement. His answer was the Arctura.

This example is a First Generation model. It features Hysek's signature "Bio-Design" language: a case molded to the human wrist, distinct "riveted" bezel accents, and a dial layout that feels more like a dashboard than a clock.

While the white Arctura (also in our shop) shows the evolution of this design, this grey model represents the origin.

Condition Note: This watch is sold as a "Wabi-Sabi" survivor. It has been worn as intended.

Crystal: Scratches present from regular use.

Case: Honest wear and "street finish" on the bezel rivets.

Strap: Uncut original integrated rubber/steel hybrid. Note: There is a small crack in the rubber segment. It is currently wearable, but we recommend treating this as a candidate for a custom strap project to preserve the original hardware.
