A low-top named after a sandwich — two flaps of upper that wrap the foot, instead of a tongue that sits on it.

What it is
Tokyo brand RFW built its core model around the upper: the pattern splits into two flaps that wrap and hold the whole foot — the sandwich — and open wide at the throat, so it steps in without a fight. The STD1 revision swaps the glued insole for a PU injection cup insole.
Purple is a 2026 spring/summer colour: cotton canvas and suede over a rubber sole, two stripes at the midsole, RFW's cyan-blue outsole underneath, per the maker's own copy. Made in China, stated by the maker. The price was re-verified on RFW's official shop rhythmtokyo.com at the spotted run: ¥13,750 incl. tax, US 4–9 and 11 in stock in small numbers, US 8.5 and US 10 on restock-notify.
Why it matters
Most low-tops differ by colour and branding. This one differs by pattern: the two-flap wrap changes how the shoe holds the foot and how wide it opens to step into. It is a regular line at ¥13,750, not a collaboration or a drop — construction sold as an everyday shoe, which is the Spotted lane for footwear.

What to check before buying
- The wrap is the fit. Two flaps hold the foot instead of a conventional tongue and lacing geometry. If you prefer a loose skate fit, this is the opposite brief.
- Canvas and suede age differently. The suede sections will mark before the canvas does. Purple shows both honestly.
- US 10 was restock-notify at check. Do not plan around a size the maker's shop lists as notify-only; join the notify or size from the in-stock range.
- Ordering is from Japan. Price is yen incl. tax on the maker's shop; shipping and any import charges are the shop's terms, not the sticker.
