| Verdict | An anniversary edition that changes the dial, not just the caseback engraving. The hand-drawn numerals are the whole argument — and they hold up. |
What it is
For its tenth anniversary, Monta reworked the Triumph — its first watch — as the Neuchâtel X, named for the Swiss town where its watches are made. The dial is the break: opalin silver, semi-matte, printed rather than applied, with oversized 9 and 3 numerals drawn by the design team. The 6 is gone, replaced by the date.
Hands are lacquered black, lume is C3 in an Old Radium hue. The rest stays current: 40mm steel, 200m water resistance, caliber M-22 (Sellita SW300), 56 hours of power reserve, quick-adjust clasp. Monta's own product record confirms the configuration: Opalin Silver dial, Caliber M-22, 200 M, case size 40, quick-adjust clasp included, $1,895, available at check.
Why it matters
Anniversary editions usually add a colour and a press release. This one redraws the dial's numerals by hand and prints the dial flat where the standard watch would apply indices — a quieter, more graphic Triumph. Edition size is not printed here: Monta's launch announcement and a later post give different figures, so the number is omitted rather than printing a contested figure.

What to check before buying
- Printed, not applied, is the point — and the trade. The flat printed dial reads more graphic and less jewelled than applied indices. Prefer it knowingly.
- The date replaces the 6. The dial's balance depends on that substitution. Look at the dial straight-on, not at an angle, before deciding.
- 40mm with 200m is a field-watch brief. Check lug-to-lug against your wrist; Monta does not state it in the product record used here — Not stated.
- Stock was live at check. Anniversary stock moves; re-check montawatch.com before planning around it.
