Verdict The display is the watch: two discs and a seconds hand, in raw brushed steel. Complications usually start at ten times this.

What it is

No hour hand. No minute hand. The hour jumps on a disc at left, the minutes turn on a disc at right, and a single seconds hand keeps the centre. Hong Kong studio Angles builds the jump-hour module in-house over a Miyota 8215 automatic. The Raw Steel variant is brushed 316L throughout — 39mm wide, 10.0mm high excluding the crystals — under a double-dome sapphire with antireflective coating, the dome curved inside as well as out so the discs read without distortion at an angle.

The dial is the case’s own material: brushed raw stainless steel with black Super-LumiNova numerals, low-luminosity and high-contrast by the maker’s own description, tuned to an industrial tone rather than a glow. The strap is 20–18mm Italian vegetable-tanned leather, hand-sewn, on a solid steel buckle.

Why it matters

Jump hours are normally a complication tax: the mechanism costs, so the watch costs. Angles inverts it by building the module itself and pricing the finished watch at $539 — the territory of an ordinary automatic three-hander. The rest of the specification does not read as cost-cutting: double-dome sapphire, a stated accuracy of −15/+30 seconds a day, 42 hours of reserve, and a two-year international warranty. Limited to 500 pieces, with delivery estimated for November 2026.

What to check before buying

  • Reading discs is a habit change. The hour jumps; the minutes sweep on a disc. It reads at a glance once learned, and not before. Look at the layout straight-on and decide honestly.
  • Delivery is estimated, not held stock. The maker states estimated delivery November 2026. The $539 is a pre-order-shaped purchase even though the store shows it in stock.
  • 5 ATM is splash resistance. A discs display in a slim case is a desk and town watch. Keep it out of the water beyond hand-washing.
  • The lume is deliberately dim. Black Super-LumiNova on raw steel is a contrast choice, stated by the maker as low-luminosity. Night legibility is not this variant’s brief.
