The Artifact

Vintage ladies' watches are often delicate, diminutive, and heavily jeweled. This Seiko goes in the complete opposite direction.

This is a statement piece of 1970s industrial design. Featuring a distinct, rounded-square "TV Screen" stainless steel case, it completely ignores the dainty conventions of the era. It pairs that bold case with a wide, solid-link steel cuff bracelet that tapers down to a standard fold-over clasp. It wears less like a traditional watch and more like a piece of substantial, brutalist silver jewelry.

The Machine

While the exterior is all architectural design, the interior is pure horological muscle.

Look closely at the dial: "17 JEWELS / HI-BEAT".

In the vintage watch world, "Hi-Beat" is a magic word. To achieve greater accuracy, Seiko engineered this automatic mechanical movement (Caliber 2205) to beat at a much higher frequency (28,800 beats per hour) than standard watches of the time. This results in a mesmerisingly smooth sweep of the seconds hand. Packing a high-frequency, self-winding automatic movement into a case this compact was a serious flex of Seiko's engineering capabilities. It also features a highly legible date complication at 3 o'clock.

The Condition

Grade: Honest Vintage.

Case & Bracelet: The stainless steel case and cuff bracelet show honest surface wear, micro-scratches, and patina consistent with half a century of use. It retains its solid, unpolished architectural lines.

Dial: The stark white/silver dial is clean, with the black block indices and hands offering superb legibility.

Crystal: The acrylic crystal shows surface wear and minor scuffs, which could be polished, but we have left it original.

Why It Belongs Here

We have a deep respect for vintage Seiko's engineering, and this watch proves they didn't reserve their best movements just for their men's diving line. This is a rare intersection of daring 1970s design and top-tier Japanese mechanical watchmaking. It’s heavy, it’s bold, and it has a mechanical heartbeat that rivals modern luxury pieces.
